Paulette C. Toburen, Psy.D. is a practicing clinical psychologist in
St. Charles and Oak Brook. She has extensive individual, marital, and
family experience and is a specialist in depression and bipolar disorder.
Dr. Toburen received her Psy.D. from the Chicago School of Professional
Psychology in 1993. She completed her undergraduate and Masters degrees
at Christian universities and is very comfortable with the Christian counseling
perspective.
"I went to school to become a psychologist because the human mind and
heart has always been a mystery to me. I'm interested in what motivates
us, what makes us unique and similar. What makes us hurt each other, and
how do we choose whom to love? Because of my deep interest in people,
I am able to find competent solutions for my clients. I have many years
of experience dealing with children and family issues. My experience has
taught me not to be judgmental, to be sensitive to clients and be aware
of their concerns. That's why patients often find me to be comforting."
"As a mother of two children and wife of a Presbyterian pastor, I understand
the tensions involved in balancing work and family life. Oftentimes a
child's behavior can greatly affect the way the family functions. That's
why I became skilled in helping children and parents work out difficulties.
I am also concerned with helping families deal with marital issues, midlife
crisis, and transitions to parenthood."
"As a psychologist, I enjoy getting to know many people on an intimate,
personal level and guide them through the complicated process of finding
peace, both internally and in relationships."
